family-based green card applications
As a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident, you’re eligible to petition for certain family members to live, work, and thrive in the United States. U.S. citizens can apply for their spouses, parents, children, and siblings, while Permanent Residents can file for their spouses and children only. For those that are eligible, Adjustment of Status (AOS) allows for the entire process to be completed while you and your non-citizen family member are in the United States. In contrast, family members already living abroad, or for those who do not qualify for AOS, the green card application process must be completed outside the U.S. at the local U.S. Embassy/Consulate (this is known as Consular Processing). No matter where your family member is located, our experienced immigration lawyers based in New York will guide you through each step of the green card application process, ensuring everything is handled smoothly and efficiently.
k-1 fiancé visas
The K-1 Fiancé(e) Visa is a resource available to U.S. citizens looking to bring their noncitizen fiancé(e) to the U.S. and get married (which must occur within 90 days of their arrival). As part of this process, the couple must show that they have met in person within two years of filing the K-1 Visa petition, although there are limited exceptions. If you are recently engaged, our experienced immigration lawyer will work with you to secure the K-1 Visa for your fiancé(e) and provide the necessary representation before USCIS and the U.S. Embassy/Consulate abroad.
citizenship & naturalization
Once you’ve been a legal permanent resident for at least 5 years (or 3 years, if married to a U.S. citizen), you are eligible to naturalize and become a United States citizen. Naturalization provides access to all the federal benefits available to U.S. citizens, including the ability to vote in local, state, and federal elections, run for public office, petition for family members, obtain a U.S. passport, apply for federal jobs, student loans, and any local, state, and federal grants/benefits. As an experienced immigration lawyer in New York, we’re here to guide you every step of the way, from preparing your application to supporting you through the naturalization interview and Oath of Allegiance Ceremony.
